New: Stainless steel mating pieces for clevises

Problematic production atmospheres like dust, moisture, or oxygen call for the use of corrosion-resistant linking elements. Stainless steel clevises are some of the most frequently used linking elements in industry. These parts can be found everywhere where simple movements are required, e.g. linear pulling, pushing, or even axle offset compensation. The clevis specialist, mbo Osswald, provides a particularly wide application range with a whole assortment of different clevises.

In addition to standard clevises there are now also the corresponding mating pieces. Considerable savings can be achieved with mating pieces. They can be easily combined with a clevis instead of a rod end if connections are required that compensate direction offsets in one direction. There are only few limitations compared to the rod end which is significantly more expensive.

Linking elements are usually regarded as mass-produced parts, but they often have important tasks to fulfil. These small components, which can no longer be seen in the finished product, bear a heavy responsibility for the safety and function of major facilities. In many cases, the parts are continuously subjected to widely fluctuating loads, for example tension and compression. If corrosion-enhancing ambient conditions like dust or moisture are added as well, the useful life of the parts might be extremely shortened. Subsequently, entire production operations are then be put at risk.

mbo Osswald, a specialist for linking elements based in Kuelsheim-Steinbach, Germany, caters for these increased safety requirements with its stainless steel products. Turned and milled parts like clevises, bolts, and angle joints are made from alloyed chrome nickel steel 1.4305 (X8CrNiS18-9). These products are far more resistant to corrosion than comparable parts and can therefore be used without any problems even under difficult conditions. Compared with pure chrome steels, frequently employed for price reasons in the manufacture of linking parts, mbo's stainless steel parts are distinguished by their improved pitting resistance. This is only achieved by the interaction of chrome and nickel. This sulphur-alloyed steel boasts particularly good cutting properties, and hence offers the ideal preconditions for individualised surface geometries, with its usability depending on the ambient influences.

By using stainless steel components the user benefits from a longer useful life and takes a crucial step towards greater production dependability.

"CNC production expanded"

Economical individual drawing parts even in smallest lots

In order to be able to meet the growing demand for customer-specific drawing parts even more quickly and economically and with the highest quality, the Kuelsheim-based specialist in linking technology has invested heavily in production. The new production lines are characterised in particular by high flexibility and repeat accuracy and due to short machining times increase economical competitiveness hugely. Thanks to highly dynamic CNC axes, main and counter-spindles with simultaneous machining option and driven tools, it is possible to manufacture superior-quality special workpieces and parts with maximum levels of efficiency and precision. This applies both to simple workpieces and to geometrically complex parts made from difficult-to-machine workpieces with closely toleranced dimensional and surface specifications. The new automatic machines can manufacture rod and shaft parts with diameters of 4 – 42 mm up to a total length of 150 mm. In particular, cross-holes, turned grooves, millings, multiple-edge turning and complicated geometries can be executed.

Individuality before standard

The benefit to the customer is obvious. It has never been easier and more economical to decide on intelligent components which satisfy the strictest requirements and to use standard parts only in those cases where standard also makes sense. Even the fear of huge purchase quantities and long delivery times is unfounded. New and highly efficient technology allows even small and smallest quantities to be produced economically with controlled, certified quality standards and within the framework of narrowly set delivery deadlines. Right from the very start mbo places at each customer's disposal a team of experts which is on hand with advice and support from the initial idea through to the readiness for production of its product. The intensive customer contact thereby created and a continuous transfer of ideas guarantee the greatest possible reliability during each stage of the production cycle.

Angle joints create movement

Angle joints serve as linking and guiding elements for movable parts and create corner joints. These parts from component suppliers can significantly simplify mechanical construction, be used to transfer power in offset axles, transmit movement and are indispensable in all mechanical operations such as cushioning, drawing, tilting, levering, etc. But that is not all. Housings, ball studs and Co. are as various in their geometry, appearance and construction as the ideas of the designers.

There are standard parts in every possible size, construction and material composition available for most applications. As one of the leading German specialist for linking elements, mbo Osswald always keeps a large number of angle joints out of his product palette of more than 12,000 parts in stock. In addition to the DIN 71802 angle joints which consist of DIN 71805 housings and DIN 71803 ball studs, every possible variation is ready to be called up by the customer. There is also a choice of surface protection such as, for example, blank, galvanised zinc, steel or stainless-steel versions. For problematic environmental conditions (dust, lubricants) there are special angle joints with sealing caps available. The space between housing and ball stud is enclosed and sealed with a cap - the best protection against damage caused by environmental influences. The programme is extended with axial joints.

mbo Osswald has also specialised in the individual manufacture of special parts. These concern every possible characteristic such as geometry, material and surface quality of the individual products. Every enquiry will immediately be checked for feasibility. The customer’s requirements will either be fulfilled exactly or alternatives will be offered which come nearest to them. These individually manufactured parts offer every user the possibility of directly influencing the sequence of machining and set new quality and manufacturing standards himself.

mbo Osswald is a leading provider of linking technology. 80 employees based in Kuelsheim-Steinbach produce more than 12,000 standard parts and specialise in the manufacture of individual drawing parts according to customer wishes.
