Expoóptica 2010: The twenty-eighth edition will take place between 19th and 21st March 2010 at Feria de Madrid
Expoóptica 2010: Expoóptica becomes a biennial event.
The fair will take place in the even-numbered years, coinciding with the International Optometry, Contactology and Ophthalmic Optics Congress.
The International Optics and Optometry Exhibition, Expoóptica, organised by Ifema, will stage its 28th edition, between 19th and 21st March 2010, at Feria de Madrid.
This is the decision that was taken at the last meeting of the fair's Organising Committee, which took place last 6th May and at which the industry requested that the next edition of the fair take place in 2010, which means that the fair will become a biennial event.
The reasons for this measure, which were demanded by the industry that the fair represents, are various, including the event's adaptation to the dates of other international fairs, the evolution of this economic sector in Spain and the fair's own development.
One of the main reasons behind the change of dates at Expoóptica consists precisely of the modifications that have recently occurred regarding the international fair calendar. In this respect, the Madrid fair seeks to avoid any coincidence with other fairs throughout Europe.
Furthermore, developments both within the optics and optometry industry and at its leading business forum in Spain advised the staging of an event that took place on a biennial basis. In the case of Expoóptica, this change also makes it easier for other segments to establish a favourable positioning at the event and expand their representation.
Furthermore, the staging of Expoóptica in even-numbered years means that the fair will coincide with another key event for the industry, namely the International Optometry, Contactology and Ophthalmic Optics Congress (in 2010 the Congress will stage its twenty-first edition), as it has been occurring in its last even-numbered editions. The complementary nature of the fair and the Congress, two events that enjoy an indisputable international appeal, provides a significant added-value dimension at both meetings.
This decision, which was taken based on the requests received from exhibiting companies through the fair's Organising Committee, reflects Ifema's policy of catering for the needs of its clients and the sectors represented at its fairs, and adapting itself to the new market demands with the biggest flexibility.
This measure, which was jointly agreed by Ifema, the National College of Opticians and Optometrists, the Spanish Federation of Optics Industry Associations, FEDAO, and the Spanish Association for Manufacturing, Marketing and General Imports of Optics and Ophthalmology Products, AEO, aims to energize both the sector itself and Expoóptica.
This change will mark a new stage in the fair's development, one in which the organisers aim to strengthen the complementary staging of business events in order to boost Expoóptica's status as a key point of reference and an essential meeting forum for operators within the industry.
