RoboCup German Open 2007

Soccer robots in action

Soccer matches between robots are not only lots of fun for project members and spectators alike, but also the ideal opportunity to demonstrate and test out the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence and mobile robotics - using the example of a soccer tournament. The venue for the RoboCup German Open 2007 is HANNOVER MESSE. In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems, Deutsche Messe is offering the participating teams the chance to present the high-tech of the future in an exciting tournament being staged on around 5,300 m2 of playing field.

The national and international RoboCup Championships were first initiated by the RoboCup international research initiative in 1997. They give scientists from around the world the opportunity to put their research results to the test in direct competition and in so doing pave the way for further advances. The aim of the RoboCup initiative is to develop a whole team of autonomous humanoid robots by 2050 that is capable of beating a human team.
