Home a Dress reinterprets men’s wardrobes
For Marie Louis-Dreyfus, the world of home linens seems to be too feminine.
"The male clientele, evermore interested in decoration, is finding it difficult to find an offer that corresponds to its expectations", assesses the 27 yeas-old designer, trained at the Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts). Since 2005, she has decided to switch around the deal. Having grown up, surrounded with appearance-conscious men with closets filled with elegant suits, ties and shirts, male elegance has always fascinated her. "I had the revelation at the Marché Saint-Pierre in front of the rolls of fabrics for men’s shirts. I play upon codes of men’s garments to create home linens collections which do not take themselves seriously". Shirt cuffs and pockets are transformed into tablecloths. With a collar, buttonholes and vents borrowed from a three-quarter-length coat and very masculine fabrics such as flannel, tweed or herringbone, the bathrobe becomes a genuine suit for the interior. Marie Louis-Dreyfus thought that her wardrobe diversions would only interest the male and younger clientele, moreover. Surprise: all age groups are falling for these veiled references. Including women. Faced with the success of her proposals, the production is proposing to launch a very luxurious made-to-measure formula where one will be able to personalize every aspect by choosing all the details oneself.
