SAIE International building technology exhibition

In Bologna from 25 to 29 October 2006 Building is our mission, our business and the business of our partners, the 1,850 exhibitors (including 450 foreign companies) and 165,000 professional visitors (7,500 foreigners) that meet every year at the SAIE international building technology show in Bologna. From 25 to 29 October 2006, the Bologna exhibition centre will host the 42nd SAIE, International building technology exhibition. The show will give building professionals the opportunity to get to know and compare the proposals of market leading companies while at the same time assessing the potential of products/technologies that support them in their work.

As a tool to support the business, profession and culture of building, this year’s SAIE will have an increasingly rationalised and optimised exhibition structure. The intuitive layout based on theme shows and specialist areas will enable professional visitors to make the most effective use of their time at the show.
The exhibition sections will be complemented by the highly specialised CONVENTIONS, the NEW PRODUCT GUIDE containing a selection of the most innovative technological and product proposals made by exhibiting companies, and the DATABASES designed to meet all business requirements.

SAFETY, REDUCTION IN ENERGY CONSUMPTION, AND TUNNELS AND UNDERGROUND WORKS are the key sectors at SAIE 2006
SAFETY, AN ESSENTIAL ASPECT OF BUILDING – Ten years after the introduction of the EEC directive, SAIE will be focusing on the theme of safety as an essential aspect of good building quality.
The key aspects of the initiative will be an exhibition space featuring a wide range of safety-related products and technologies and a special conference programme in which expert speakers will address the theme of safety.
REDUCTION IN ENERGY CONSUMPTION – In view of the rising oil prices and increasing attention to the environment and rational use of energy sources, it is essential to carefully reflect on the energy losses of buildings.
Amongst the top priorities of building design today are to identify and select forms of architecture that achieve the best results in terms of reduction in energy consumption through the most modern technological solutions and choice of materials.
This theme will be explored at SAIE 2006 in an exhibition held in the Services Centre and a major conference entitled ENERGY EFFICIENCY: A NEW CHALLENGE FOR THE BUILDING MARKET – Certifications, design approaches, examples and the role of professionals, organised by Saie in cooperation with Modulo, to be held on Thursday 26 October at 14.15.
TUNNELS AND UNDERGROUND WORKS – The theme of tunnelling, closely linked to the design and implementation of large infrastructure works, will be addressed in terms of design and safety at SAIE, with a special focus on aspects of interest to industry professionals.
A debate (in the conference organised by SIG) and a dedicated exhibition area will explore the state of the art in the tunnelling and underground works sector.
LARGE-SCALE ARCHITECTURE AT SAIE
SAIE has always been one of the key venues for international debate on the theme of “building culture” and every year complements its exhibition proposals with an extensive conference programme (on average more than 50 events).
The CORE EXHIBITION has become the key venue for debating one of the most significant themes, that of “large-scale architecture”. The speakers have included some of the most renowned names in modern architecture, such as Thomas Herzog, Daniel Libeskind, Peter Cook, Shigeru Ban, Boris Podrecca and Françoise-Hélène Jourda.
At the 2006 show, CORE EXHIBITION will focus on the large-scale urban transformation projects in progress in the Italian cities through an International conference (to be held on Friday 27 October 2006), a Book and an Exhibition held in the Services Centre.
CHANGING ITALY: CITIES IN COMPETITION is the title of this edition of the CORE EXHIBITION which will present some of the most significant urban redevelopment projects currently in progress throughout the country, both in large cities and in medium or small-sized towns.
Key interdisciplinary aspects of the selected projects will be analysed, combining traditional town-planning, technological, architectural and social elements with an innovative vision of urban redevelopment as an essential feature of competition between cities to enable them to establish a specific identity with which to address the market.
