Sicur 2008: DelSi is an Individual Safety Wireless Detection System. It is based on a positioning system by radio frequency for people, which with a similar system to that used by the GPS, guarantees the workers' safety in a production environment or on a production line. This system allows each worker's safety to be reinforced, since each user receives a broadcasting device, small in size (slightly larger than a matchbox) and that is identified individually.

The system can even stop a machine when it considers that the worker has entered a high risk area.

Movement detection or the immobility of the worker allows us to know his or her position within the work area. If the worker enters an area marked as dangerous, DelSI will stop the machine, in this way ensuring the person's physical integrity. For this reason it is particularly recommended for those areas where conventional safety is difficult to implement due to a complex geometry. DelSI concentrates on the detection and positioning of all the workers wearing the broadcasting device within its area of coverage. Using parameterisation software, the work area will be simply divided up into zones of warning, danger and access.
The broadcasting devices are directly linked to the workers. The receiver receives the codes assigned to the users and calculates the position. Once this is known, it knows in which area the person is to be found and depending on the situation, it generates an action that might be a warning, prohibition or stopping the machine.

The lack of solutions in industrial safety provided by the standard protection systems in situations where there are particles in suspension (dust, metal particles, etc.) with low light levels, very large areas with complex geometry to be protected are the reasons that have led the company GTG to develop an innovative industrial safety device, using the application of radio frequency. The DelSI system, by using radio location techniques through radio frequency, will solve the risk situations not covered by the safety devices already on the market, due to the difficulty of application in extensive premises with complex geometry, since the detection area of the scanners reaches a maximum radius of four metres or because the use of carpets means they have to be distributed all over the surface to be protected.
The development of the DelSI has meant an important technological challenge, given the level of positioning accuracy and reliability that it allows. DelSI combines an advanced aerial system, latest generation radio technology and a complex digital processing of the information to achieve this aim. Although many of the techniques to be applied are known and used separately in some applications, the integration of them all together in one product is a completely new idea.
