Strategic alliance: Messe Frankfurt – Fiera di Roma

Letter of intent signed. First joint event will be Automechanika Italia, to be launched early 2008

Messe Frankfurt and Fiera di Roma are on their way towards forging a far-reaching strategic alliance. The chairman Michael von Zitzewitz (Frankfurt) and the managing director Marco Sogaro (Rome) laid the foundations today by signing a letter of intent in Rome. The first concrete step will be the joint staging of an Automechanika show in Rome, planned at the start of 2008.
Further details and phases of development for the partnership are to be worked out over the next few months. The Frankfurt-based Automechanika is the world’s biggest and most important trade fair for an extremely diverse range of sectors comprising the automotive aftermarket industry. Marco Sogaro: “The partnership with Messe Frankfurt will help to give the new fairgrounds a more international flavour. Together, we intend to tackle further steps regards expansion.
Our combined forces will give us better access to certain markets, especially those in the Mediterranean region and in northern Africa, which have a significant and for the most part still untapped potential. It is especially in light of these aspects that Automechanika in Rome planned for 2008 promises to be a perfect start for our partnership. “Far from limiting our cooperation to Automechanika, we intend to establish further events from our portfolio in Rome and develop them on a partnership basis”, explains Michael von Zitzewitz. “In doing so, we will
initially be focussing on themes from the areas of technology, security and textiles. We will also be examining further options beyond these fields. Ultimately, we also plan to jointly develop
new exhibition topics.” The creation of joint structures and a joint management set-up will serve to underline the strategic partnership.” Marco Sogaro explains: “We will in the near future be discussing how this is to take place.”
