Textil Moda 2008: Ifema cancel the fairs Textilmoda and Plural Fashion
Ifema has decided to cancel Textilmoda, the Textile Fashion Show, and Plural Fashion, the Asian Fashion Product Exhibition. The decrease in the number of participants, below the levels required for the exhibiting companies to stage the event with sufficient guarantees of success, has led to the cancellation of both events from Ifema's fair calendar
Textilmoda
Textilmoda, a trade fair specialising in textiles and adornments for the clothes manufacturing industry, began its activities back in September 2001. This event emerged as a result of the demands received from the industry itself, including designers, clothes manufacturers, stylists, textile retailers, purchasing heads at large retail chains and other professionals. Their wish was to have a fair in Madrid that would present a representative exhibition of textiles and adornments (buttons, zips, etc.) for the fashion trade. Throughout its thirteen editions, Textilmoda always presented a high level of international participation, accounting for some 45 per cent of the companies brought together at the event. At recent editions, the fair featured around 80 exhibitors and nearly 400 textile and adornments collections of considerable quality manufactured throughout the European Union.
Plural Fashion For its part, Plural Fashion staged its first edition in May 2007, based on the participation of some 70 companies. This fair, which was aimed at Spanish retailers in particular, specialised in the marketing of instant delivery collections of textiles, clothing, footwear, leather items and fashion jewellery from the Far East. The second edition of the fair, which took place last October, featured the participation of 91 exhibitors. In both editions, Plural Fashion featured the participation of manufacturers Bangladesh, China, the Philippines, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and Vietnam.
